Participating in a discussion on education policy in the Assembly on Friday, Mr. Revanth said, “Today’s education policy must prepare our children to compete globally,” reiterating that the future of the country lay in quality classrooms.

Mr Reddy said he had “a passion” for the education sector and cited the increase in budgetary allocations as evidence of the government’s commitment. Against ₹19,093 crore allocated by the previous BRS government in 2023-24, the Congress government allocated ₹21,292 crore in 2024-25, ₹23,108 crore in 2025-26, and Rs 26,647 crore in 2026-27. The education budget had consequently increased by ₹7,554 crore in three years.
Mr. Reddy also highlighted teacher recruitment saying 10,006 teacher posts had been filled within 55 days during the first year of the Congress government, without a single allegation of irregularity. In contrast, the previous government had recruited only 7,857 teachers over 10 years, he claimed.
He said the number of students enrolled in government schools had increased by 86,000 since he assumed charge of the Education department. The government had introduced pre-primary education in government schools, he said. As many as 64,000 children were receiving pre-primary education. The government was also providing breakfast and lunch to students and teachers from nursery to Class XII, he said.
No privatisation of polytechnics
Defending the controversial GO Ms. No. 97, Mr. Reddy ruled out privatising polytechnics and said the BRS was misleading students with ulterior motives. All the existing norms for admissions, service rules, land protection will continue and students will get best technical education. Industry is pumping in ₹4,000 crores into them and foreign industries have signed MoUs with YISU, he said.He asked the polytechnic students to visit the ITI-turned Advanced Training Centres (ATCs) and see the difference. “Why will I cheat you? I came from government school and I understand your needs,” he said.
