The overall efforts have restored partial confidence among major asset managers, with Invesco trimming its underweight positions on Indonesia, said a senior Indonesian government official.
Foreign funds have purchased Indonesian bonds for a fourth straight month, while the rupiah has appreciated over 3.5 per cent from its June lows.
The Jakarta Composite Index has jumped 25 per cent from its June bottom, entering technical bull market territory and attracting $296 million in net inflows this quarter.
Meanwhile, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will address the BRICS Business Forum in New Delhi on Saturday, focusing on transforming BRICS declarations into tangible economic growth by positioning Indonesia as a dynamic global production hub rather than merely a raw material supplier.
Highlighting the nation’s market of nearly 290 million people and abundant resources, he will underscore existing high-value partnerships — such as Mahindra’s vehicle supply contract, GMR’s airport development in Medan, and major commitments from CATL, BYD and DP World, he added.
To accelerate these efforts, he will offer Danantara Indonesia, with its nearly $1 trillion in assets under management, as a co-investment partner alongside the New Development Bank to back bankable and sustainable projects, he added.
Beyond attracting inward investment, President Prabowo will urge Indonesian firms to expand into BRICS markets and present three direct action items to business leaders.
He will call on the BRICS Business Council to build a clear pipeline of investable projects and identify the top ten business barriers for governments to dismantle.
Additionally, he will task KADIN Indonesia with integrating local small, medium and mid-sized enterprises into global supply chains. Closing with a call to action, he will urge all participants to leave New Delhi with concrete partners, projects and timetables to deliver real jobs, shared technology and infrastructure, he said.
