Tenkasi Superintendent of Police S. Ashok Kumar has placed under suspension a head constable for allegedly assaulting a woman police constable in the district.

Ponraj, 40, of Kurukkalandarpatti near Paavoorchathram in the district, who had been attached to the Kadayanallur police station, recently got into a heated argument with a woman constable of the same police station.
The altercation continued even after they returned to their homes in the police quarters, and Ponraj allegedly assaulted the woman, who then filed a complaint with the Kadayanallur police.
After registering a case, the Kadayanallur police arrested Ponraj on Wednesday (September 9, 2026) evening and remanded him in judicial custody.
Mr. Ashok Kumar issued the suspension orders on Thursday (September 10), sources said.
