Maratha protesters will head to Mumbai, says Jarange Patil

“We are going to Mumbai, the date will be announced on September 12, once we all gathered at Antarwali Sarathi,” said Maratha Activist Manoj Jarange Patil as his indefinite hunger strike demanding reservation for the community entered 13th day on Thursday (September 10, 2026).

“We are not waiting for government’s delegation to visit his protest site, but waiting for supporters to assemble and then decide the next course of action,” said Mr. Jarange Patil.

Mr. Jarange Patil and his supporters are staging protest across the state demanding government to issue the certificates based on Kunbi entries in the Hyderabad and Satara Gazette records to eligible members of the Maratha community and validate the certificates, instead of cancelling them.

Mahayuti minister Uday Samant said,”We are taking every step to resolve the issue before September 12.” Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule highlighted that the government has installed the camps to facilitate the process of issuing the certificates. “The steps are carried to give reservation under OBC category based on the SOPs of government,” he added.

While speaking to media persons at Antarwali Sarati in Jalna district, he said, “We will watch whether the camps organised to issue Kunbi certificates is because of the ongoing agitation or to cancel the issued certificates.” 

Soared relations with Mahayuti

A day ago, Mr. Jarange Patil accused Maratha quota sub-committee chairman Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil of betrayal to the community by being a sweet talker.

He criticised DCM Eknath Shinde and targeted Shiv Sena minister Sanjay Shirsat, saying, “In last three years, I have been respectfull towards Mr. Shinde but now he is speaking in favour of party. This is because of Shirsat, the relations have soared,” he added.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut targeted Mahayuti alliance, saying “The government wants to kill him. They used Manoj Jarange Patil for political gain.”
