ANDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) - The Powell Panthers opened the 2026 high school football team with a statement victory, defeating Anderson County 56-44 on the road Thursday night.
It was the first meeting between the two programs since 2023. Powell has now won four of the last five matchups.
With the win, the Panthers improved to 1-0 and will look to stay perfect as they host Farragut on Friday, August 28.

The Mavericks fell to 0-1 and will aim to bounce back with a tough road match on Thursday, August 27, against Knoxville Catholic.
