The famine was caused by severe drought, colonial export policies and inadequate relief measures, and resulted in millions of deaths across southern and western India.

Hollywood actor Arnold Vosloo, best known for playing Imhotep in ‘The Mummy’, plays the important role of Sir Theodore Hector, an English oppressor.
Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna in the film
Vijay Deverakonda plays the titular character Ranabaali, a Telugu man who rises from the land of Rayalaseema. Rashmika Mandanna plays Jayamma, his wife and partner in his struggle.The teaser also gives a glimpse of the much-awaited pairing of Vijay and Rashmika in a completely different setting.
The film promises a gritty period world with a strong focus on Rayalaseema’s culture and history.
The makers show Vijay Deverakonda in a fierce avatar where he can be seen killing the British officers mercilessly and seemingly those who support them. The actor has a long moustache and long hair look for his character. He is also seen in multiple horse riding shoots.
Release details of ‘Ranabaali’
The makers have planned the film as a major festive release around the pre-Dussehra weekend. The film is set to hit the big screen on October 16, 2026.It will be released in multiple languages including Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.
