The agenda includes a visit to the Silverstone Motor Racing Circuit to build on Tamil Nadu’s automobile and electric-vehicle manufacturing ecosystem and the State’s recent decision to build a world-class ‘Motor Sports City.’
“The visit will provide an opportunity to gain detailed insights into the circuit’s design, safety systems and best practices for operating such facilities efficiently and commercially. It will also help explore opportunities in motor-sports infrastructure, sports tourism and specialised automobile industries associated with the sector,” the statement said.
Attracting new investments in advanced manufacturing, automobiles and electric vehicles, electronics, and Global Capability Centres are also among the key objectives of the Chief Minister’s visit to the UK, it added.
The details of other meetings on the agenda were not disclosed.
The State Govt said that multinational companies from various European countries have proposed investment projects worth around ₹8,491 crore as part of the recent investment conclave, and this demonstrates the growing interest and confidence of investors in Tamil Nadu. Further, the India–UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), which came into effect recently has also given an impetus to exports from the State.
“In particular, textiles and apparel, leather and footwear, auto components, engineering goods and electronics are well positioned to take advantage of the growing opportunities in the UK market,” the Government said.
The Govt statement notes that Public Works and Sports Development Minister Aadhav Arjuna, Meganath Reddy, IAS, Member Secretary, Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT), and Deepak Jacob, IAS, Managing Director, Guidance TN, and other officials, are part of the delegation.
