As part of an enforcement drive, the department inspected 77 pubs across Hyderabad. While 45 establishments had valid Fire NOCs, the remaining 32 were found non-compliant. Notices have been issued to all 32, directing them to rectify the deficiencies within the stipulated time, failing which legal action will be initiated under the Telangana Fire Service Act.
The inspections were followed by a fire safety awareness programme for pub managements and representatives at the Engineering Staff College of India (ESCI) in Gachibowli on Wednesday.
Director General of Fire Services Vikram Singh Mann told pub owners and managements that fire safety could not be compromised at public entertainment venues and stressed that preventing accidents, being prepared for emergencies and complying with regulations were essential to protecting lives and property.
The department said it would continue awareness programmes, inspections and enforcement measures to strengthen fire safety standards at public assembly occupancies across the State.
