Horror master Carrie TV series adaptation on Prime Video, which is set to premiere on October 7, 2026. Now, Flanagan and Lillard are already gearing up to work together again, but with a few key differences from their past collaborations.

As reported by Deadline, Mike Flanagan is set to produce the upcoming body horror and psychological thriller movie Rot, which will mark the directorial debut of Alexandra Magistro. Magistro is also an executive at Flanagan's Red Room Pictures, having previously served in producer and assistant roles on Five Nights at Freddy's Matthew Lillard has now joined the cast of Rot. Lillard is also joined by fellow Carrie cast member Amber Midthunder, who rose to fame for her role as Naru in Dan Trachtenberg's 2022 Predator prequel film Prey. Additionally, the upcoming horror film will star Cooper Koch, who recently earned an Emmy Nomination for his role as Erik Menendez in Netflix's 2024 crime series Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story.

Rot is based on a 2024 Black List script written by Geo Bradley, who reportedly described the film as "Repulsion by way of Cronenberg." In the original script, the story focuses on an antisocial man with obsessive compulsions haunted by the death of his mother, a hoarder, with his mental state unraveling after taking on a job as a trauma cleaner. However, according to Deadline, the announcement of the film version of Rot being produced by Red Room didn't include an official logline.

Though a specific date has yet to be confirmed, Rot is reportedly set to begin filming in November 2026 in Vancouver. The upcoming film has also yet to indicate an intended release date or window. Alongside Flanagan, Rot is being produced by his frequent collaborators Molly C. Quinn, Matthew M. Welty, and Elan Gale under QWGmire.
