The 30th global professional students’ conference named Profcon being held at Ahalia Campus, Kanjikode, has called for greater vigilance against drug use and cultural decay on campuses.

The three-day conference, being organised by the Wisdom Islamic Students Organisation State committee, urged parents, teachers and heads of educational institutions to take preventive measures against ideologies promoting the use of alcohol and drugs.

It also called for greater awareness of attempts to expose students to obscenity at a time when artificial intelligence is driving rapid changes in education and knowledge.

The conference urged the government to create more job opportunities in Keralam to prevent professionals from leaving the State. It also called for improving the quality of education to help students compete in global intellectual and knowledge-based fields.

Wisdom Islamic Organisation State vice-president Abubacker Salafi inaugurated the conference on Friday afternoon. Wisdom Islamic Students Organisation State vice-president Abbas Hamid presided. A. Prabhakaran, MLA, was the chief guest.

At an evening discussion on ‘Gen Z: anger, resistance and revolution’, V.T. Suraj, MLA, SFI national president Adarsh M. Saji, former MSF State general secretary C.K. Najaf and Wisdom Islamic Students Organisation State executive member Shiyad Hassan spoke.

Wisdom Students Palakkad district secretary Rasheed Kodakkat delivered the keynote address.

On Saturday, Higher Education Minister Roshy M. John, General Education Minister N. Shamsudheen, Lajnatul Buhus Islamic Scholars’ Council chairman Kunhimuhammed Madani Parappur, Islamic finance expert P.N. Abdurahman Abdul Latheef and Wisdom Youth State vice-president K. Thajudheen Swalahi will address different sessions.

The others to address those sessions include education expert C. Mohammed Ajmal, veteran orthopaedic surgeon Mohammedkutty Kanniyan, scholars Nikhil Kilivayal, Wisdom Students State vice-presidents C.P. Abdullah Basil and Shahbaz K. Abbas.

Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Welfare Minister K.A. Thulasi, Peace Radio chief executive officer Haris Bin Saleem, Lajnatul Buhus convener Hamza Madani, Wisdom Women State president Zahra Sullamiyya and general secretary C. Raseela too will address different sessions on Saturday.

The conference will conclude on Sunday.
